The official trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s highly anticipated film, One Battle After Another, dropped today. This drama already has an impressive ensemble cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Wood Harris, and Alana Hai.

The trailer teases a story filled with action and heavy emotion, while withholding key plot details. The film seems set against a backdrop of revolutionary struggle and civil unrest, centering on a father’s desperate fight to save his daughter. Interestingly enough—with the way DiCaprio seems to be playing the part—there’s a bit of quirkiness interwoven in there. This may be a good thing given the obivous heavy subject material.

One Battle After Another appears VERY relevant with the current political landscape in the United States. Anderson’s storytelling, combined with the talents of DiCaprio and other heavyweights like Regina Hall and Benicio del Toro, promises an epic cinematic experience that resonates with the current social turmoil of the United States and, to some degree, the world over. Lets hope it delivers on that promise.

Either way, given the subject material, it will no doubt piss certain segments of the population off…
